Week two of the 2016 NFL season features an ESPN Monday Night Football clash between the Eagles and Bears at Solider Field in the Windy City. Philadelphia will look to improve to 2-0 this evening while Chicago hopes to avoid an 0-2 start. The football odds makers at Bovada.lv like the Bears to get the win, listing Jay Cutler and company as a -3 NFL point spread favorite. The Over/Under in tonight’s NFC showdown is set at 43 points.

Hey, it was the Browns, but the Doug Pederson era in Philly got off to a pretty impressive start. The Eagles took it to Cleveland last Sunday, scoring a 29-10 home win thanks to a 278 yard, two touchdown effort from rookie quarterback Carson Wentz.

Philadelphia finished the game with 403 total total yards while limiting the Browns offense to 14 first downs and 288 total yards. The Eagles also held Cleveland to 2-for-10 on third down, leading to just 20:40 of possession time for Hue Jackson’s squad.

The game marked just the second win for Philly in its last six games at Lincoln Financial Field.

Chicago opened its season in Houston and it left the Lone Star State saddled with a 14-23 loss. The Bears headed to halftime with a 14-10 lead, but their offense did nothing in the second half. Chicago finished the game with 258 total yards while Cutler completed 16-of-29 passes for 216 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

The Bears road record under John Fox fell to 5-4 as a result and they failed to cover the six-point spread, dropping their ATS mark to 7-9-1 under the veteran head coach.

In spite of that result and last season’s 6-10 finish, Chicago finds itself a favorite in tonight’s stand alone affair. The Bears have occupied a favored home role following a road loss eight times since the 2010 season, but it has suited them well. Chicago went 6-2 both straight up and against the spread in those eight contests; however, none of them came with Fox on the sideline.

NFL Point Spread Betting Trend: Teams playing as a Monday Night Football road dog coming off a home win in which they scored 25 or more points are 5-1 against the spread since December 16, 2013.
