Selecting NCAA Bracket Picks are a highlight for the amateur and professional alike as they can potentially result in both personal gratification and financial gain. Something akin to what some of the all-time coaching greats like John Wooden, Bob Knight, Dean Smith, Mike Krzyzewski, Roy Williams, Rick Ritino, Tom Izzo, and Billy Donovan have experienced a time of two. The NCAA Tournament is, arguably, the most exciting event in sports and as such it attracts not only a host of basketball fans but also sports bettors. College basketball bettors are able to checkout the latest NCAA Point Spreads on every college basketball game all year.

Make sure to review the latest Final Four Odds being offered by the online sportsbooks at every stage of the year, from preseason, the start of March Madness right up on thru the Elite Eight.

The following are some of the more improbable championship runs as well as a few notable NCAA Tournament nose dives.

All-Time Great NCAA Bracket Picks:

1983 North Carolina State Wolfpack – Jim Valvano’s legendary crew had nine lives as they were nearly eliminated in the first, second, and fourth rounds. A six seed in the West Region, the Wolfpack eventually made it all the way to final where they topped a Hakeem Olajuwon led Houston team 54-52.

1985 Villanova Wildcats – The eighth seeded Wildcats (highest seed to ever win the championship) survived a first round scare against Dayton (51-49), but went on to upset top-seeded Georgetown 66-64 in the championship game.

1988 Kansas Jayhawks – The No. 6 Jayhawks (a.k.a. “Danny and the Miracles”) rode a red hot Danny Manning to the championship game where they met Big Eight rival Oklahoma. The Sooners, who were the one seed in the Southeast Region, fell to Kansas 79-83 in the title clash as Manning scored 31 points and grabbed 18 rebounds.

Busted NCAA Bracket Picks:

1991 Syracuse Orange – Syracuse won the Big East and earned a two seed by virtue their 26-6 record. However, the Orange’s regular season exploits did not keep them from being stunned in the opening round by a 15th seeded Richmond team that had to win its conference tournament in order to secure an NCAA Tournament berth. This game marked the first time in NCAA Tournament history that a 15 seed knocked off a two seed.

2001 Iowa State Cyclones – The 25-6 Cyclones were a highly regarded powerhouse that won the Big 12 regular season title. They were heavily favored in their first round meeting with 15th seeded Hampton, but the Pirates went on 14-2 run to close out the game, resulting in a most improbable 58-57 victory.

2010 Kansas Jayhawks – The top seeded Jayhawks cruised to 90-74 win over Lehigh to open the tournament, but a sharp shooting Northern Iowa squad spoiled a number of brackets when it down Kansas 69-67 in the second round.
