Soon after, they pushed back the normal starting time of the $100,000 guaranteed tournament from 2:00 p.m. EST to 4:00 p.m. EST to accommodate the influx of European players. The amount of players entering the main event also increased weekly and on Sunday, January 14, 2007 for the first time ever, BodogPoker avoided paying the overlay.
On Super Bowl Sunday BodogPoker added an additional $100,000 to the $100k guaranteed tournament making it a $200,000 guaranteed prize-pool. The $109 tournament buy-in remained the same and the winner was awarded $45,000. 1,909 players entered the tournament which made for a very small overlay. To my dismay, it was unfortunately a one time event. I believe that once the NETeller news broke and many poker rooms saw their tournament numbers decrease; they decided not to continue the $200k tournament. I am sure we will see the guaranteed prize-pool grow very soon, as Bodog Poker is a pioneer in the online gaming industry.
