The first two games of the New York Yankees 2009 season are now recorded history, and the results cannot be sitting well in the Empire State. However, despite their 0-2 start, the Yankees are still being viewed as the favorite to bring home the 2009 American League Pennant at +180 moneyline odds. Visit Sportsbook.com today to view all of their Major League Baseball game lines and futures, including their 2009 American League Pennant odds. New York is off to a rough start this year, getting banged around in their first two games by AL East rival, and perennial cellar dweller, Baltimore. But, alas Yankee fans, it is a long season or a marathon, not a sprint as the saying goes. The Yanks ownership spent a lot of jack to improve upon last year's 89-73 record and oddsmakers believe their actions will see results, regardless of what has transpired over the past few days. Coming in second in Sportsbook.com's 2009 American League Pennant odds is another AL East squad, the Boston Red Sox. Terry Francona's team is currently being listed at +250 on the moneyline to repeat their 2007 feat. Boston also did more than their share to beef up a roster that went 95-67 in 2008, adding arms Brad Penny, JohnSmoltz, Ramon Ramirez, and Takashi Saito. The Los Angeles Angels, who finished first in the AL West last year with a 100-62 record, and last year's American League Pennant winner, Tampa Bay, round out the top four most favored squads. Both clubs are presently sitting at +600 on the moneyline. The Rays saw the departure of pitcher Edwin Jackson but they welcomed right fielder Pat Burrell and his highly productive bat. The Angels lost two former roster staples in outfielder Garret Anderson and closer Francisco Rodriguez, but added Bobby Abreu and Brian Fuentes as replacements. Sportsbook.com's 2009 American League Pennant Odds: New York Yankees +180 Boston Red Sox +250 Los Angeles Angels +600 Tampa Bay Rays +600 Cleveland Indians +700 Detroit Tigers +1000 Oakland Athletics +1200 Minnesota Twins +1500 Chicago White Sox +2000 Toronto Blue Jays +4000 Seattle Mariners +5000 Texas Rangers +5000 Kansas City Royals +5000 Baltimore Orioles +5000 |
