The Royals and Rangers will square off against each other this evening at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas. The two squads, which were out of action yesterday, will begin their three game series tonight with an 8:05pm ET first pitch. Kansas City Royals vs Texas Ranger MLB Picks

Kansas City Royals vs Texas Rangers MLB Picks at Sportsbook.com have the Rangers listed as a slight -107 moneyline favorite.

The Royals are currently in first place in the American League Central division with a 5-4 record. They are coming off a six game home stand in which they garnered a 3-3 record. Kansas City lost two out of three to the Yankees, but concluded the home swing by taking two out of three against the Cleveland Indians. They did, however, fall 4-5 to the Tribe in the series finale on Wednesday afternoon.

Kansas City comes into tonight's game having allowed a league fewest 29 runs.

Since sweeping the Cleveland Indians in their season opening series, the Rangers have gone on to lose their last two sets, getting swept in Detroit and losing two out of three at home to Baltimore. They did win their last contest in convincing fashion, though, pounding the Orioles 19-6. Second baseman Ian Kinsler hit for the cycle in the victory, going a perfect 6-for-6 while scoring five runs and driving in four.

Texas, who leads the league is runs scored at 71, is 4-5 and in last place in the AL West.

Pitching for Kansas City tonight is veteran right hander Gil Meche. The Louisiana native has been solid in his first two starts despite not recording a win in either one. He has pitched a total of 14 innings this season, giving up 13 hits and five earned runs for a 3.21 ERA.  The 30 year old has walked just two batters while striking out 12.

Rangers Ballpark has been a house of horrors for Meche, and the Royals for that matter, in recent visits there. Gil is 0-3 in his last three starts in Arlington, giving up 16 hits and 12 earned runs in 12.2 innings of work. The Rangers went 5-1 versus KC in 2008 and the swept the Royals in the series at Texas.

The Rangers will send 23 year old southpaw Matt Harrison to the hill this evening. Harrison was bombed in his first start of the year, giving up nine hits and four earned runs (5.2 innings) in a 3-4 loss at Detroit. He has had success at home, however, as he went 5-2 in Arlington last year. He also went 1-0 versus Kansas City in 2008, working 6.2 innings and allowing just one earned run in a 3-2 win at Kauffman Stadium.
