Oakland Athletics vs New York Yankees MLB Predictions at BetUS.com have the Yankees listed as a huge -210 moneyline favorite in this evening's game.

Oakland fell to 5-7 yesterday, losing the rubber match 0-1 in their three game series at Toronto. The Athletics produced just five hits in the loss as Blue Jays rookie starter Ricky Romero continued his hot beginning to the season. Romero's brillant outing overshadowed a tremendous effort from the A's Dallas Braden. Braden worked seven innings, giving up just five hits and one earned run in the defeat.

Oakland is now in third place in the American League East and will play nine of their next 12 games on the road. They are currently 3-3 away from Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum.

Starting tonight for manager Bob Geren is left hander Dana Eveland. Eveland has stumbled out of the gate this year, sporting a 0-0 record with a 6.75 ERA in two starts. The 25 year old has given up 16 hits and eight earned runs in a little over 10 innings of work and opponents are hitting .348 against him. However, the A's have managed to win both of his starts, recording a 6-4 victory over the Angels on April 8th and a 6-5 win against the Red Sox on the 14th.

Eveland has made just one appearance against the Yankees in his career, which was a 1-3 loss last season in Oakland. The Washington state native worked six innings in that affair, giving up four hits and two earned runs.

New York improved to 7-6 yesterday with a 7-3 victory over the Cleveland Indians at Yankee Stadium. They are presently tied with Boston for second place in the AL East and two and a half games back of the first place Blue Jays. The Yankees have scored 70 runs this season, but have given the second highest total in the league at 87.

Joe Girardi will send veteran pitcher Andy Pettitte to the hill tonight in hopes that the southpaw can continue is stellar start to the 2009 season. Pettitte is 1-0 this year in two starts with a 2.51 ERA. The 36 year old has walked just two batters while striking out 10 and hitters have produced a meager .180 batting average against him this year.

Pettitte was absolutely nasty to the Athletics last season. In two starts against Oakland he went 2-0 with a 1.13 ERA. He gave up just two earned runs in 16 innings pitched and he struck out 15.

New York won the season series 5-1 between these two squads last year. They also swept the A's in the Bronx.
