The Minnesota Twins have made their way to Bean Town to begin a three game series with the Red Sox. Game one takes place tonight at 7:10pm ET at Fenway Park. Minnesota Twins vs Boston Red Sox Baseball Predictions at Sportsbook.com have the Red Sox listed as a -160 moneyline favorite.
The Red Sox will be going for their sixth straight win tonight when they face the Twins. Boston has rebounded from a rough start and is now 7-6 and tied for second place in the American League East.
Boston disposed of the Baltimore Orioles yesterday in a 12-1 blowout at Fenway. Terry Francona's squad blew things wide open in the bottom of the sixth inning, touching up Radhames Liz for three hits and six earned runs in a third of an inning. Dustin Pedroia led the Sox offensively, going 4-for-6 with three runs and three RBI.
Boston got a solid outing from Justin Masterson as he allowed just four hits and one earned run in 5.1 innings of work.
The Twins come into tonight's game having won three in row. Minnesota concluded a sweep of the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday, winning 3-1 at the Metrodome in Minneapolis. Starter Glen Perkins pitched eight innings in the victory, holding the Angels to four hits and one earned run.
Minnesota improved their record to 7-7 with the win; they are presently in fourth place in the AL Central, but just a game back of the first place Royals.
Starting tonight for the Red Sox is veteran knuckleballer, Tim Wakefield. The 42 year old has gotten off to a good start this year, sporting a 1-1 record with a 3.00 ERA. However, he has had his share of troubles with the Twins in recent seasons. Wakefield is 2-3 versus Minnesota in his last five starts against them, giving up 32 hits and 18 earned runs in 26 innings pitched.
Scott Baker will be taking the hill for just the second time this season tonight at Fenway. Baker started the year on the DL and he looked a little rusty in his first outing. The former Oklahoma State Cowboy lasted a mere four innings in a 12-2 loss against Toronto back on the 15th. He gave up five hits and six earned runs in the brief appearance.
Baker was 0-1 against Boston last year, working seven strong innings in a 1-0 loss at Fenway Park. He struck out seven in that game and did not give up a run.
