The Yankees will go for the road sweep against their arch rival when they face the Red Sox in tonight’s series finale at Fenway Park. New York and Boston are scheduled to take the field at 8:00pm ET; the game will be broadcast live on ESPN. The latest MLB Point Spreads have the Yankees listed as a -132 moneyline favorite and the Over/Under set at nine runs.

Boston’s four game losing streak looked like a thing of the past with the team leading 9-0 in yesterday’s game two meeting with New York, but more and even worse misery lay in store for Bobby Valentine’s club. The Red Sox went on to lose the game 15 -9 after giving up seven runs in both the top of the seventh and eighth innings, falling to 4-10 in the process and 4.5 games back of the first place Yankees.

The chief offenders in the total collapse were relievers Vincente Padilla and Alfredo Aceves as they combined to give up 10 hits, 10 earned runs, and five walks in 1/3 of inning. The heroes for New York in the dramatic comeback victory were Nick Swisher and Mark Teixeira. Swisher and Teixeira both went 3-for-6 at the place and they each drove in six runs.

The Red Sox will attempt to halt their slide tonight with former reliever Daniel Bard on the hill. Bard’s conversion to starter has not gone smoothly thus far with the Houston native giving up 12 hits, eight walks, and six earned runs in 11 2/3 innings. Boston is 0-2 in his first two outings this season, losing 3-7 at Toronto and 0-1 to the Rays.

New York will counter Bard and take aim at its fourth straight win with staff ace C.C. Sabathia on the mound. Sabathia, despite his 1-0 record, has posted horrible numbers through three starts, giving up 20 hits, 12 earned runs, and six walks in 19.1 innings pitched. The 11 year veteran brings a 5.59 ERA and 1.34 WHIP in tonight’s game.

Yesterday marked the Yankees fifth win in its last six games opposite the Red Sox. It also represented New York’s fourth win in its last five games at Fenway Park.

MLB Odds Betting Trend: The Over is 8-2 in the Red Sox last 10 games as a home dog against an AL East opponent.
