The White Sox and Orioles are set to play the rubber match in their three game series at Camden Yards. Baltimore took game one by a score of 10-3, but Chicago retaliated last night with an 8-2 victory. This evening's contest is scheduled to begin at 7:05pm ET at Oriole Park.
Chicago White Sox vs Baltimore Orioles MLB Tips at Bodog.com have the visiting Sox listed as a slim -111 moneyline favorite. The game total is set at 10.5 with the over being favored at -120 odds.
Chicago, which will conclude a nine game road swing tonight, improved their record to 8-6 with yesterday's blowout win. The White Sox are tied for first in the AL Central as a result of going 7-3 in their last 10 games. They have produced a 5-3 mark on their current road stand.
Chicago banged out 12 hits in their 8-2 drubbing of the O's last night. Third baseman Josh Fields was spectacular, going 3-for-5 with a run scored and three RBI. Fields had a double and a home run in the win. Starting pitcher John Danks no doubt appreciated Fields effort, but he probably did not need it. Danks went seven innings and yielded just one earned run to a Baltimore lineup that is averaging 5.46 runs per game this season.
Orioles starter Jeremy Guthrie had an atypical outing as he gave up eight hits and five earned runs to the White Sox in six innings of work.
Tonight could well be another hit fest between these two high scoring squads as right handers Bartolo Colon and Adam Eaton take the mound. Colon has been good thus far, going 1-0 in two starts with a 3.86 ERA. He has worked a total of 11.2 innings this year and allowed just five earned runs while striking out six. The 35 year old was 2-0 versus Baltimore last year with a 3.75 ERA.
If Colon has a nemesis in the Orioles lineup, it would have to be DH Luke Scott. Scott is 5-for-8 lifetime against Bartolo with three doubles, two home runs, and three RBI.
A change of uniform has not done Adam Eaton any good this year. The former Philly is 0-2 in two starts with his new ball club, accumlating an atrocious 11.25 ERA and .425 batting average against him. He was 3-8 as a starter last year with Philadelphia and finished the season with a 5.71 ERA.
Chicago White Sox -1.5 (+135), Over 10.5 (-120), -111 (Moneyline)
Baltimore Orioles +1.5 (-155), Under 10.5 (+100), +101 (Moneyline)
