Phillies at Blue Jays MLB Odds July 3 2011

by Reno Gold on Sunday, July 3rd, 2011

By the time the Philadelphia Phillies (53-31) get out of town, the poor little Toronto Blue Jays (40-44) probably won't know what hit-em. Of course today's game is yet to be played but the prospects of the Blue Jays getting a win against Phillies ace lefty Cliff Lee (9-5, 2.66 ERA) are slim. Oddsmakers agree too, installing the Phillies as -200 MLB Odds moneyline favorites. Toeing the rubber for Toronto will be left-hander Jo-Jo Reyes (3-7, 4.77 ERA). With Reyes the starter, Blue Jays' backers will be getting +170 odds as home underdogs with a 7 1/2 total.

Lee enters Sunday's start against the Blue Jays riding a career-high 32-inning scoreless streak, which ranks fifth in Phillies history. He has thrown three consecutive shutouts and finished June 5-0 with a 0.21 ERA.

Reyes allowed a season-high six earned runs during his last outing against Pittsburgh. He surrendered nine hits and one walk over just 3 2/3 innings. It was the fifth time this season he has failed to pitch at least four innings.

On Friday Roy "Doc" Halladay got his chance to work the Blue Jays and did so in usual Halladay fashion, throwing a complete game only allowing three runs to cross on eight hits, one of them a solo home run to Jose Bautista in the fourth. The win allowed backers to cash-in as -161 moneyline favorites while eight runs scored was OVER the posted 7-runs for the game.

Saturday's loss was the third straight for Toronto while Philadelphia has won two in a row.

Early betting trends show the public is buying today's MLB Odds line with 89% wagering with Lee and the Phillies to win SU while totals betting is where sports shops like it, 51% on the OVER to 49% the UNDER.
