East meets West tonight in a big clash between powerhouses Orlando and Los Angeles. The two division leaders tip things off at 10:30 pm ET at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA. NBA Picks at online bookmaker BetUS.com are favoring the Lakers at home -4 against the spread. The Magic come into tonight's game on two days rest and riding a five game win streak. Orlando last played on Tuesday night when they overwhelmed the Kings 139-107 in Sacramento. Tonight's meeting with the Lakers is their third game in a four game Western Conference swing. Should they win, they will have a chance at the coveted road sweep against the Nuggets tomorrow evening. Orlando, sitting at 31-8, has a 7.5 game lead in the Southeast division over the second place Atlanta Hawks. They have won eight of their last 10 games and are 15-5 on the road this year as a result of their 103.4 point per game average in opposing arenas. The Magic are also one of the better defensive teams in the league, holding teams to an average of 93.6 points per game on 42.8 percent shooting from the field. Los Angeles returns home after a two game stint in the Lone Star state. The Lakers beat the short-handed Rockets 105-100 on Tuesday behind 33 points from Kobe Bryant and they lost to the Spurs in a 111-112 squeaker on Wednesday at the AT&T Center. Despite the loss to San Antonio, the Lakers are 8-2 in their last 10 and still hold an eight game lead over the Suns in the Pacific division. Phil Jackson's squad is 20-2 at the Staples Center, where they average a gaudy 109.4 points per game. Los Angeles shoots an astounding 47.9 percent from the field and also pulls down 45.7 rebounds per game at home. Their defense, however, has been somewhat pedestrian, allowing teams to score at a clip of 99.2 per contest on 44.9 percent shooting. NBA Picks Betting Trend: The Over is 7-3 in the Lakers last 10 games as a home favorite. BetUS.com's NBA Picks: Orlando Magic vs Los Angeles Lakers Magic +4 (-110), Over 213.5 (-110), +155 (Money line) Lakers-4 (-110), Under 213.5 (-110), -175 (Money line) Insider Report: This should be a close contest due to the quality of both teams. The Lakers are hard to beat at home, but Orlando has been sitting in California for two days just waiting for this game, they should be more than rested. The Magic also do a number of things well, which makes them a tough out at any location. They shoot 46.7 percent from the field on the road (third best in the league) and in addition to their sound defense, they also pound the glass with Dwight Howard (13.8 rebounds per game). Orlando sports a 16-4 record against the Western Conference this year while the Lakers are 10-4 against the Eastern Conference. |
