The Orlando Magic and the Charlotte Bobcats will square off tonight at 7:00pm ET at the Amway Arena in Orlando, Florida. Surprisingly, the Bobcats come out of the All-Star break with a little more steam than the Magic, having won two games in a row prior to the weekend's festivities. Despite Charlotte's back-to-back wins, NBA Picks: Charlotte Bobcats vs Orlando Magic at Bodoglife.com have the Magic listed as a -8.5 against the spread favorite.
Orlando, who is 20-6 at home this year, staggered into All-Star weekend having won just two of their previous five games. Their last blemish occurred on February 11th, their final game before the break, when they fell at home to the Nuggets by a score of 73-82. The Magic hit just 30.4 percent of their field goal attempts and turned the ball over 23 times in the loss.
The lone bright spot for Orlando in the defeat was center Dwight Howard. The four year veteran scored 16 points, snagged 15 rebounds, and blocked three shots..
In spite of the Magic's recent woes, they are still firmly in control of the Eastern Conference's Southwest Division. Their 38-13 record has them seven and a half games ahead of the second place Hawks and 17.5 games ahead of the visiting Bobcats (fourth place).
Charlotte should find the going more than a little rough this evening. Not only are the Bobcats 3-7 in their last 10 games at Amway Arena, the Magic give up an average of just 90.9 points per game to guests — almost three points fewer than their season average of 94.1, which ranks fifth in the league.
The Bobcats snapped a five game skid prior to the break with their wins over the Clippers and the Wizards. The confidence boosting victories, both of which took place in North Carolina, moved their record to 21-31 on the season.
Charlotte scored an uncharacteristic 101 points in their 12 point win over the Wizards. Larry Brown's squad, which averages a league worst 92.2 points per game, connected on 37-of-74 from the field and hit 40.7 percent of their three points attempts. Leading the way was the newly acquired Vladimir Radmanovic; the 28 year old hit five of his 10 shots from beyond the arc in route to 21 points.
As poor as Charlotte's offensive production is at home, it gets much worse on the road. The Bobcats produce just 91 points per game in opposing venues. Fortunately for them, they do know how to play defense. Their 93.9 points per game allowed average ranks fourth best in the entire league.
