The Atlanta Hawks (52-39), who have the NBA Eastern Conference No. 3 seed in the playoffs, should get off to a good start when they host the Milwaukee Bucks (46-36) in the first round of the 2010 NBA Playoffs on Saturday (5:30 p.m. Eastern).

The Bucks will have problems beating the Hawks at Philips Arena just as every team has this season. Atlanta owns a 34-7 home record so the Bucks, minus Andrew Bogut, will have their work cut out for them.

NBA oddsmakers at Sportsbook.com list the Hawks as 8 1/2-chalk Game 1 favorites with a 186 1/2 total. Bucks backers are getting +350 moneyline odds as the underdog while the Hawks are giving -450.

Atlanta is a heavy favorite to win this best of seven series installed at -900 odds on the Sportsbook NBA board. The Bucks are getting +550 odds to pull an upset.

The shorthanded Bucks will have problems matching the Hawks athleticism so expect a slower more deliberate attack. If the Hawks can force an up-tempo game, it will spell trouble for the Bucks.

Milwaukee will be working without its best scorer, Michael Redd and best player Andrew Bogut, who has a broken arm. It is unlikely that an aging Jerry Stackhouse will be able to lead the team to enough wins to take the series.

Atlanta could sweep this series but to give Milwaukee some benefit of the doubt, we predict the Hawks take it in five.
