2010 NBA Finals: Celtics vs Lakers Game 1 Odds & Picks

by Matt Foust on Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

2010 NBA Finals: Celtics vs Lakers Game 1 Odds & Picks: The 2010 NBA Finals will get underway tonight with a game one clash between the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers at the STAPLES Center. The highly anticipated showdown is scheduled to tip off at 9:00pm ET on ABC. 2010 NBA Finals Game 1 Odds & Picks at online bookmaker SBGglobal.com have the Lakers listed as a -5.5 against the spread home favorite; the game total is set at 192.

The Lakers title defense and quest for revenge begins tonight as they take on long-time nemesis Boston in Los Angeles. 2010 NBA Finals: Celtics vs Lakers Game 1 Odds & PicksPhil Jackson's squad easily dispatched Orlando 4-1 in last year's Finals, but they, no doubt, still feel the sting of their loss to the Celtics in the 2008 NBA Championship.

Los Angeles comes into the series with a 12-4 playoff record, including an 8-0 tally at the STAPLES Center where it has won by an average of 10.4 points per game. The Lakers averaged 118 points per game in three Western Conference Finals appearances at home, helping them take out Phoenix 4-2.

The baskets will not come as easily against the Celtics defense, but Boston's offense is not the equal of the Suns. The Celtics, in that respect, will definitely provide a change of pace for the Lakers, whose first three playoff opponents featured a score first mentality.

Boston, like Los Angeles, ended its Conference Finals series in six games, overcoming a red hot Magic team that had not lost in the first two rounds of postseason action.

The Celtics have been road warriors in their march to the NBA Finals, going 5-3 away from the Garden while holding host squads to an average of 95.9 points per game.

Kobe Bryant and company are no pushovers on defense either, though, as they held teams to 97 points per game during the regular season (ninth in the league). That average has jumped to almost 102 per outing in the playoffs, but the Lakers have faced three of the highest scoring teams in the league in Oklahoma City, Utah, and Phoenix.

The game one edge goes to Los Angeles, but look for Boston to keep things close as they are 4-0 against the spread (1-3 straight up) playing on the road against the Lakers with a game total between 190 and 195.

2010 NBA Finals Betting Trend: The Lakers are 7-3 straight up and 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 games as a home favorite with a spread between 4 and 7.5 and total between 190 and 195.
