The Cavaliers will look to even the best of seven NBA Finals at one game apiece tomorrow night when they face the Warriors at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California. Game 2 between Cleveland and Golden State is scheduled to tip off at 7:00pm ET on ABC. Opening Game 2 odds from offshore bookmaker Bovada.lv have the Warriors listed as a -7 NBA Predictions favorite; the Over/Under is coming in at 208 points.
The Game 1 result between the Cavs and Warriors was as expected; however, it did not come about in the fashion most envisioned nor was the margin as close as some predicted.
Golden State, favored by six, scored an easy 104-89 win and it did so in spite of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson combining for 20 points on 8-of-27 shooting. The Warriors bench, specially the trio of Andre Iguodala, Shaun Livingston and Leandro Barbosa, led the team to its lopsided victory.
Those three combined for 43 points (18-of-24 from the field), 12 rebounds and nine assists while Cleveland’s eight reserves accounted for 10 points, six boards and one assist.
That will, in all likelihood, not be a winning formula for Golden State tonight should it, indeed, secure a 2-0 series advantage. Curry and Thompson will, no doubt, play a bigger role while the Cavs should continue to rely on their big three of LeBron James, Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving in spite of Thursday’s result.
Cleveland coach Tyronn Lue said as much after his team’s Game 1 loss.
“I don’t see a reason for change,” Lue said. “I think the way they play defense, they switch 1 through 5, and it makes you play one-on-one basketball … And then you’ve got to post Kevin, you’ve got to post LeBron against those mismatches. So I don’t see any reason for change. We’ve just got to convert.”
Perhaps their chances of converting will get better when the series shifts to Cleveland, but the odds makers don’t see it happening tonight, not in the Warriors backyard.
NBA Predictions Cavaliers vs Warriors Game 2:
The Under is 5-0 in the Cavaliers last five games playing as a road dog coming off a road loss.
Cleveland is 3-7 against the spread (4-6 straight up) in its last 10 games playing on the road and coming off a road loss.
The Warriors are 26-2 straight up in their last 28 games playing as a home favorite coming off back-to-back home wins, the most recent in which they scored 104 or more points.
