NBA Odds & Predictions: It's November, which means the National Basketball Association's regular season has begun. Here's a quick look at some of this week's NBA action. Tuesday night (Nov. 9) the last two undefeated teams in the league will try to stay perfect. First, the 6-0 New Orleans Hornets host the 1-6 Los Angeles Clippers (8 pm Eastern). And later the 7-0 Los Angeles Lakers host the 1-6 Minnesota Timberwolves (10:30 PM).
As of Tuesday morning BetUS.com is chalking the Hornets at -9 over the Clippers and the Lakers at -17 over the T-Wolves.
New Orleans, trying to rebound after missing the playoffs last year, has won its first six games by six, six, nine, eight, three, and six points – which goes to show how valuable a healthy Chris Paul can be. The Clippers, meanwhile, despite finally getting the services of Forward Blake Griffin, are off to a slow start, and are already getting hampered by injuries. Guard Eric Gordon banged his shoulder over the weekend, and his status for Tuesday night is up in the air. And fellow Guard Baron Davis is doubtful as he deals with a sore knee.
The Lakers are not only undefeated so far this season, they're also 5-2 vs. the BetUS.com pointspreads. But last year LA, while it won each of the 19 home games in which it was favored by double digits, only went 5-14 ATS in that situation. Minnesota, meanwhile, has already lost four games by 20 points or more this season.
Tuesday's NBA predictions: Both of these featured home teams will win SU and cover the spread. LA will cruise and win by 20 or more.
In other NBA action for Nov. 9, Denver is a 1 1/2 chalk favorite at Indiana; New Jersey is a -1 1/2 favorite at home vs. Cleveland; Miami by -9 at home vs. Utah; Milwaukee -6 hosting New York, and Portland by -9 1/2 at home vs. Detroit.
