Jazz at Magic NBA Picks – Nov 10 2010

by Reno Gold on Wednesday, November 10th, 2010

Jazz at Magic NBA Picks: It's probably a given – Orlando Magic players, who had Tuesday night off, enjoyed watching rival Miami lose at home in the games final seconds of OT to the Utah Jazz. Orlando has done nothing but dominate the NBA Eastern Conference Southeast Division the past couple of years, but this year, because of the LeBron James story, has taken a back seat to the Heat in media attention. The Magic will host those same Utah Jazz  (7 PM ET, ESPN) who survived game-1 of their back to back gauntlet run of Miami and Orlando.

Bodog.com has Orlando listed as an 11-chalk favorite versus Utah for Tuesday's game with a posted total of 194.

The Jazz (4-3) have won four of five after an 0-2 start, and seek a two-game Florida sweep after possibly their most impressive win of the season. Paul Millsap scored a career-high 46 points Tuesday night in Utah's 116-114 overtime win over the Heat, despite a triple-double from James.

After rallying from 18 points down to beat the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday, Utah came back from a 22-point second-quarter deficit against the Heat. Deron Williams added 21 points and 14 assists.

The Jazz are averaging 117.5 points in their four wins but 86.7 in their three losses. They could have trouble scoring against the Magic, who are allowing an NBA-low 88.7 points per game.

The Magic have won six of their last seven home meetings with the Jazz. With another victory Wednesday, Orlando will start the season 5-0 at home for the fourth time in franchise history.

Orlando's winning percentage might be up, having SU wins in five of six games this season, but have fallen short of covering the betting spread for backers in four of those six games. The Magic have failed to cover ATS in three straight games and in four of their last five. Bettors who played the UNDER have cashed in three of Orlando's games, while the OVER covered twice with one push.

The Jazz have played three road games as underdogs and have covered ATS in two of them, including Tuesday's SU win as a +9 underdog at Miami. Overall, the Jazz are 3-4 ATS. In total's betting, the OVER has cashed in four of the previous five games the Jazz played.

Game Pick: After playing into OT at Miami, the Jazz have a short turnaround before playing the Magic. Look for Orlando to have a solid edge in this one. Betting Orlando -11 is the best play.
