Pacman Pacquiao has the more KO’s on his record with 36 to Hatton’s 32 and is ranked as the pound for pound best boxer in the world. On December 6, 2008, Pacquiao faced Oscar De La Hoya in a fight called Dream Match. Pacquiao asserted himself over De La Hoya from the first round till the eighth round. De La Hoya's corner threw in the towel before the start of the 9th round. Pacquiao won via technical knockout. De La Hoya was already washed up and this fight was more of a pay day than anything. Manny has brought his speed up from the flyweights and upwards and is seriously quick even after bulking up for the De La Hoya fight. Pacquiao has never been knocked out by a punch to the head although he has never fought anyone with the power and size of Hatton. Hatton has only been knocked out once by the world class Floyd Mayweather but Mayweather hadn’t bulked up for the fight ,which Pacquiao will most likely be doing. Hatton is used to taking punches from fighters at this weight but Pacquiao isn’t really, due to his only experience being against a weight drained De La Hoya. If Manny Pacquiao had any weakness it would be his body, due to the fact that he was knocked out twice by body blows. These were early in his career and he hasn’t been knocked out in nine years. Freddy Roach has tried to rectify his week body but will it be enough to with stand arguably the best body puncher in boxing? Once again Hatton is used to taking punches from light Welterweights and will likely walk straight though Pacquiao’s shots. Pacquiao has fought the more fights, fighting 53 fights to Hatton’s 46. Pacquiao has also been in more world title fights, fighting 11 fights to Hatton’s 9. This could prove the better fighter if Pacquiao can use his higher experience level to his advantage.

Ricky Hatton labelled Pacquiao as a one-dimensional fighter, "Manny fights the same way all the time. He's effective at what he does but he's not a versatile fighter" Hatton admitted that he is the underdog for the fight, but insisted he can still cause an upset. "I can understand I am the underdog but it doesn't scare me," adding that "He is the best pound for pound fighter but this is my weight division". He continued, "This fat, beer-drinking Englishman is going to shock the world again". Hatton’s only loss came at the hands of Floyd Mayweather Jr., on December 8, after a 10th round TKO. This bout was for Mayweather's WBC Welterweight title. Since his one and only loss, Hatton defeated Juan Lazcano after a 12th round decision to retain the IBO Light welterweight title. His next fight and win was Paulie Malignaggi where Malignaggi’s corner threw in the towel in the 11th round, again retaining the IBO Light welterweight title.  Hatton is renowned for his ferocious power and he has fast hands for a power puncher and can switch from head to body in a blink.

The Bottom Line: For me I think Hatton body shots will take there toll and eventually knock him down or even out. They will seriously slow him down which will totally cancel out Pacquiao’s main asset, his speed. Be sure to get your Ricky Hatton vs Manny Pacquiao Prediction in now at SBGglobal.com
