The Cal Bears from the Pac 10 will be looking for sweet revenge at home when they face off against a Tennessee Volunteers team that handed them a 35-18 beatdown in last year’s opener.
The good news for California backers is that they are perfect 5-0 ATS as favorites of 17 or less points with revenge. Look for Cal who is returning 16 starters to try and turn this game into a shootout. Sportsbook.com has Cal the favorites at -6 +100 betting odds.
The Volunteers from the powerful SEC will be led by cannon armed senior Quarterback Erik Ainge. Ainge however is coming off a severe knee injury and will have to deal with throwing to new set of receivers this year along with two taped up fingers on his throwing hand.
The Cal secondary has some question marks itself and will be relying on their strong core of linebackers to carry the defense in this game. Tennessee starting running back LeMarcus Coker is unproven but talented and should provide an early test for the Cal defense.
The Bears will look to use all of their high powered weapons in this game. Look for big Cal QB Nate Longshore to get the ball into the hands of gamebreaking WR DeSean Jackson as much as possible.
