The 2010 Under Armour Senior Bowl will kick-off in a few hours (4:05 pm Eastern, NFL Network) at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala., between two teams, North and South, made up of mostly college seniors who are looking to turn professional in 2010. While handicapping these college all-star events can be difficult, online oddsmakers at Sportsbook.com have installed the South team as 3 1/2-chalk favorites versus the North with a 44 1/2 total.

So why is the South favored? While I don't have a truly clear answer, or a scientifically proven one, I believe it's because the South has better football players than does the North. Of course that doesn't really make sense since many players who play for northern college football teams do come from the south - and that works vice-versa too. Plenty of great players who play in the South come from the North.

Maybe the South is favored because of one player in particular - former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow - who hails from the South, Jacksonville, Florida  and will be playing for the South. Tebow holds many NCAA and school record for a quarterback and now wants to prove to pro-scouts he is NFL worthy.

There is some concern that Tebow will not see much action in the game as he missed an autograph session on Friday because of illness. Other than that we don't know much else on the issue. However; if Tebow does play it could cause problems for the North defensive unit trying to contain him up the middle or on his little dump pass.

It should bring some comfort to Tebow that his college roommate and No. 1 target receiver at Florida, Riley Cooper, will also be on hand in the game.

One of the most electric players will also be there to help Tebow and the South in Mississippi's Dexter McCluster. Listed as a running back and wide receiver for Ole Miss, McCluster became the first player in SEC history with at least 1,000 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards in the same season.

The North doesn't have the star-power as does the South but they are not void of talent. Leading the way at quarterback is Central Michigan's Dan Lefevour and Cincinnati's Tony Pike. LeFevour has contributed to more Chippewas touchdowns than any player in major-college football history, 102 passing, 47 rushing and one receiving.

The South will be looking for its third consecutive win. Ok, we're convinced - take the South. This team looks loaded.

2010 Senior Bowl Picks, Predictions & Betting Odds: The 2010 Senior Bowl is scheduled to take place tomorrow at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Alabama. The annual game features the nation's top collegiate seniors and provides them an opportunity to showcase their skills to NFL scouts and coaching staffs. The players are divided into North and South squads and each team in comprised of 54 seniors from around the country. This year's North team is being coached by the Detroit Lions staff, while the South team, which is listed as a -4 against the spread favorite to win the game at Bookmaker.com, is guided by the Miami Dolphins coaching staff.

Both teams have several notable first, second, and third round type players, which makes this annual trek for NFL coaches 2010 Senior Bowl Picks, Predictions & Betting Oddseven more important this year. Among the most prominent on the South roster are Florida quarterback Tim Tebow, Alabama defensive back Javier Arenas, Alabama defensive tackle Terrence Cody, USC defensive back Taylor Mays, Mississippi receiver/running back Dexter McCluster, and South Florida defensive end George Selvie.

The North squad, while lacking the star power of Tebow, has several talented players as well, including Cincinnati receiver Mardy Gilyard, Cincinnati quarterback Tony Pike, Missouri linebacker Sean Weatherspoon, Nebraska safety Larry Asante, Oklahoma running back Chris Brown, Penn State defensive lineman Jared Odrick, Missouri receiver Denario Alexander, and Central Michigan quarterback Dan LeFevour.

Not surprisingly, former Heisman winner Tim Tebow has been the talk of practice leading up to tomorrow's game. The two-time National Champion committed to the contest a couple of weeks ago, viewing the practices and the game as an opportunity for him to improve as well as demonstrate his ability to work in the more traditional offensive systems that most NFL teams employ.

"There are a lot of things you do in training that are not football," Tebow said. "This (the Senior Bowl) is the only thing where you are playing football and showing football skills. It's something where I get an opportunity to play with a lot of great players and get coached by a lot of great coaches in the NFL. [It's also] an opportunity to work in an NFL system and do things that a lot of people haven't seen me do like go under center and take the drops."

Count Dolphins coach Tony Sparano, who is heading up the South squad, among those impressed by the former Gators' performance this week.

"One of the nice things with him is, you've got somebody lining up in the wrong spot, he's got it, he can get them lined up right," Sparano said. "He sees somebody maybe not running the right route or in the wrong place, he's got it...this whole thing has really slowed down for him."

The Senior Bowl series is split down the middle with both the North and South having 30 wins apiece. The South, however, has won the last two games by a combined 18 points. Past Senior Bowl MVP's include former and current NFL stars Matt Forte, Philip Rivers, LaDainian Tomlinson, Larry Johnson, Derrick Brooks, Thurman Thomas, Dan Marino, Steve Bartkowski, and Terry Bradshaw.

The 2010 Senior Bowl is scheduled to kickoff at 4:00pm ET; it will be broadcast live on the NFL Network.

Texas vs. Alabama 2010 BCS Title Game Predictions: Each team had its close calls this college football season but still found a way to stay unbeaten through 13 games. (Tonight 8:30 pm Eastern, ABC), the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide and No. 2 Texas Longhorns will battle for a chance to go 14-0 and for the right to be called 2010 BCS National Champion.

Texas vs. Alabama 2010 BCS Title Game PredictionsCollege football oddsmakers at online super-sportsbook Bodog.com, have installed Alabama as 5-chalk favorites in the BCS game with a total of 46 points. The Crimson Tide are also favored on the moneyline at -180 while Horns backers are getting +160 odds.

Alabama began the season ranked fifth in the two major polls, and rolled its way to the SEC West title, although they needed a blocked field goal at the buzzer to stave off what would have been a disastrous loss to Tennessee. The Tide then destroyed the Gators 32-13 in the SEC championship game to clinch a spot in this BCS title bout.

Alabama covered as a 5.5-point underdog in that contest, while the final score played OVER the 41-point total.

Texas started the season ranked second in the polls, and with help from a tough 16-13 win over Oklahoma in the Red River Shootout they proceeded to win the Big 12 South. The Longhorns then escaped a potential disaster of their own when they got a favorable review call and a clutch field goal to beat Nebraska 13-12 in the Big 12 championship game, earning their spot in Thursday's contest.

Texas failed to cover the 14-point spread, while the 25 points went UNDER the posted total of 47.

While going 13-0 during the regular season, including conference championship play, Texas finished 5-7-1 ATS while Bama cashed in 8-of-13 games ATS.

So far this bowl season the SEC is 6-3, while the Big 12 is 4-3. And in the two bowl games matching teams from these two conferences, the SEC is 2-0; Georgia beat Texas A&M in the Independence Bowl, and Ole Miss knocked off Oklahoma State in the Cotton Bowl.

2010 BCS Championship Game predictions: Much has been said and written about the Alabama defense this season. While offense gets the most ink, defense will rule tonight's BCS game. This writer predicts the total will fall under the posted 46, and Bama comes out on top by a touchdown. Best Bet - Alabama -5, UNDER 46.
