No. 17 USC will take aim at a fourth conference win tonight when it welcomes Washington to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Steve Sarkisian’s squad is listed as a -17 pick against the spread favorite over his former team. The total in tonight’s game, which is scheduled to get underway at 9:00pm ET (ESPN), is set at 56 points.

Washington Huskies at USC Trojans (-17, Over/Under 56): Many felt the 2015 season would be one of transition for Chris Petersen and the Huskies. With just nine starters back and Petersen entering his second season at Washington, that prognostication was not an unrealistic one.

Whether or not it becomes a reality is still up in the air, but through four games, it certainly looks as though it will. Washington owns a 2-2 record and it won the two games it should have while dropping meetings with Boise State and Cal.

The Huskies were competitive in both of those games, losing 13-16 and 24-30, respectively. They have also been a solid against the spread team, covering the number in three of their four games.

Conversely, USC entered its 2015 campaign with College Football Playoff aspirations. The Trojans hopes are still alive, but they suffered a hit when they fell 31-41 at home to Stanford on September 20.

USC bounced back from its loss to the Cardinal and improved to 3-1 on September 27 with a 42-14 thrashing of Arizona State in Tempe. The Trojans rushed for just 76 yards on 32 carries in the win, but Cody Kessler completed 19-of-33 passes for 375 yards and five touchdowns. USC also benefitted from five Sun Devil turnovers in the route.

The Trojans can probably expect similar numbers tonight against the Huskies defense. Washington ranks ninth in the nation in yards per carry allowed (2.61) but 67th in pass yards per game allowed (216.5).

The team’s meeting with Cal played out in much the same fashion with the Golden Bears throwing for 342 at 7.4 yards per pass while rushing for just 139 yards on 51 carries (2.7 ypc). The Huskies held Cal 13.4 points below is season average as a result while registering their third UNDER result in four games.

Tonight’s College Football Pick Against the Spread: Lean to the Huskies at +17. Like the Under 56.

Notable Trends:

The Under is 8-2 and on a 5-0 run in USC’s last 10 games playing as a -17 or less home favorite when coming off a road win.

The Under is 10-1 in USC’s last 11 games playing as a home favorite coming off a road win in which it scored 40 or more points.
