The aforementioned Gilbert completed 27-of-41 passes for 266 yards and one interception while the Texas rushing attack accounted for 107 rush yards on 22 carries.
The Longhorns defense, which got gashed for 264 rush yards against the Bruins, limited Oklahoma to 360 yards and a 2.4 yards per carry average. However, they could not contain DeMarco Murray, who rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns in dropping Texas to 3-2 on the year.
Nebraksa, which has had this game circled since falling to Texas in last year's Big 12 title game, improved to 5-0 last Thursday night with a 48-13 shellacking of Kansas State in Manhattan. Quarterback Taylor Martinez, who ranks first in the nation in yards per carry (10.8), was simply unstoppable in the route. The redshirt freshman ran for a jaw dropping 241 yards and four touchdowns on 15 carries.
Martinez was not alone in the heavy lifting as senior tailback Roy Helu Jr. piled up 110 yards and one score on eight carries.
The Huskers defense, which ranks fourth in the nation in points per game allowed (12.8), took care of the rest, limiting the Wildcats 315 total yards.
Texas comes into this game having won its last five meetings with the Huskers, including a 13-12 win in last year's conference championship. The Huskers have covered in the last three contests, though, all as a dog, losing to the Longhorns by a combined six points.
