West Virginia has won four straight bowl games coming into this clash with FSU, including the 2006 Gator Bowl, which it won 38-35 over Georgia Tech.
Florida State followed up last year's 9-4 mark with a 6-6 record in what has been deemed Bobby Bowden's last season. The Seminoles finished third behind Boston College and Clemson in the ACC Atlantic Division with a 4-4 conference record. Despite the up and down year, FSU did win four of its last six games, beating North Carolina, North Carolina State, Wake Forest, and Maryland.
The 2010 Gator Bowl will be Bowden's 33rd post-season game. He produced a 21-10-1 record in his previous 32 bowl contests and he has two National Championships to his credit. From 1985 to 1995 Bowden, who coached at West Virginia from 1970 to 1975, guided the Seminoles to 11 straight bowl wins.
