Stanford vs Notre Dame Betting Odds

The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame have shown that they are an improved team this year, but there are still some questions surrounding them. This week the Irish will get another opportunity to prove their wares against an improved Stanford team. College football betting odds at have the road Cardinal as a +6.5 underdog.Stanford vs Notre Dame Betting Odds

Last week many people were predicting that the Boilermakers of Purdue would go into South Bend and take out Notre Dame. Early in the game that looked like a possibility, but by the end of the contest the Irish had almost turned it into a laugher. Charlie Weiss' crew racking up 476 yards of offense and they moved the ball efficiently through the air and on the ground.

Quarterback Jimmy Clausen threw for a career high 275 yards and added three touchdowns. Clausen also avoided throwing the ball to the opposition which has cost his team on more than one occasion this season.

Jim Harbaugh's Stanford Cardinal are off to a 3-2 start, and they already have two wins in conference play, beating Oregon State 36-28 to open the season and taking out the Huskies of Washington 35-28 last weekend. The Cardinal are averaging 168.4 yards per game rushing , and, much like Michigan State, they will test the resolve of Notre Dame's defensive line with a healthy dose of smash mouth football.

Stanford running back Toby Gerhart (5.7 yards per carry, five touchdowns) has been a real work horse for Harbaugh and he will give the Notre Dame front seven something to think about, if he plays that is. Gerhart was knocked out of last week's game versus the Huskies with a concussion and he is questionable for this weekend.
