After spending the latter part of the 2007 season lobbying for a spot in the BCS Championship Game, Oklahoma Head Coach Bob Stoops was relegated to the Fiesta Bowl and a showdown with the West Virginia Mountaineers. Stoops will not have to do any such petitioning this season. Following the Sooners defeat of Oklahoma State on Saturday, the BCS formula vaulted his club past the Texas Longhorns and into the number two spot in the BCS rankings.

The controversial shift assured Oklahoma the Big 12 South title and a spot in this weekend's Big 12 Championship Game versus the Missouri Tigers. Should Oklahoma beat Missouri, they will be headed to the BCS National Championship game where they will likely face the winner of this weekend's SEC Championship between Alabama and Florida.
In anticipation of the Sooners moving past their team in the BCS rankings, Texas fans have been reminding anybody and anything that would listen that the Longhorns are 11-1 as well and that they beat Oklahoma 45-35 back on October 11th. However, the conglomeration of elements that make up the BCS rankings were not listening and Texas was left out to dry.
Playoff anyone?
Sportsbook.com's Big 12 Championship Odds:
Oklahoma Sooners -17 (-110), Over 79 (-110)
Missouri Tigers +17 (-110), Under 79 (-110)
