Tony Stewart the often hot-headed driver of the No. 20 Home Depot Chevrolet of Joe Gibbs racing, is also the hottest thing going on the NASCAR Nextel Cup circuit by winning three of the last four races and according to oddsmakers at online sports wagering giant SBG Global, is favored to win Sunday’s 3M Performance 400 stock car race at Michigan International Speedway near Brooklyn, Michigan with a +500 money line chalk. Other favorites are Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson (+600), teammates with Hendrick Motorsports and at +700 are Carl Edwards and Matt Kenseth. After going winless in the early going , Stewart got his first win in 2007 at Chicagoland Speedway in the USG Sheetrock 400. Stewart rode the momentum from that race to a win at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard. On Sunday, Stewart won the Centurion Boats at the Glen road course race after passing race leader Jeff Gordon who spun out with two laps to go. Gordon, winner of four Nextel Cup events this season, hasn’t won since taking the checkered flag in a rain shortened race at Pocono June 11. Gordon finished ninth at the previous race at the Michigan speedway. Gordon’s teammate Jimmie Johnson also had early success winning 3-of-4 races back in the spring but has been bitten by the bad luck bug ever since.
