Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo smashed up his $360,000 Ferrari yesterday when he plowed into a roadside barrier near Manchester Airport. There were no other vehicles involved in the accident. The 23-year old is said to have escaped unscathed, and reports are that he has even returned to training today, to get ready for their match against Chelsea on Sunday, Jan 11. Will this accident affect his play? Oddsmakers at BetUS.com don’t think so as Man United are +120 moneyline favs to beat Chelsea (+250) with a draw set at +210. It's a huge game in the English Premier League on Sunday as Manchester United host Chelsea, with both trying to challenge Liverpool for top spot. Liverpool leads with 45pts, Man United sit in third place in the EPL with 35pts, while Chelsea is in second with 42pts. Man United are having issues of their own as they lost 1-0 at Derby in the Carling Cup semifinal first leg on Wednesday. United have struggled to beat Chelsea going 2W-4D-4L in their last 10 meetings. When playing at Old Trafford Man U is 2W-1D-1L. United can't count on Cristiano Ronaldo, as the high-flying winger has never scored a Premiership goal against the Blues. Ronaldo leads his team with eight goals, while Wayne Rooney is close behind with four goals.
Chelsea is not looking like the Blues of old, with four draws in their last five outings, including last Saturday's 1-1 tie with lowly Southend in the FA Cup. Manager Luiz Felipe Scolari has cited a lack of confidence in front of goal for his team's troubles, and they need to rise to the occasion at Old Trafford if they are to reverse the trend. Chelsea is the Premier League's top scorers with 40 goals this season and they tend to get out of the blocks faster than any other team, typically scoring their first goal in under half an hour played and 14 minutes ahead of the Premier League average. Nicolas Anelka leads Chelsea with 14 goals while Frank Lampard has eight.
