The Kansas City Wizards will look to clinch a playoff spot on Saturday as they are at the New York Red Bulls. Kansas City is in 7th place in the playoff standings, one point ahead of Chicago and five in front of ninth-place Colorado. A Kansas City win would clinch a spot for the Wizards but a loss or a tie could give Colorado a chance if they win at Chivas USA. Bet on the MLS at internet sportsbook SBG Global.
The Chicago Fire needs a win and some help to clinch a playoff spot. The Fire visit Eastern Conference-leading D.C. United on Saturday and the United has not lost at home in an MLS match since April. Chicago is in eighth place in the playoff chase and will wrap up a playoff berth Saturday if it wins their game while 11th-place Los Angeles fails to beat Toronto FC. Chicago hosts Los Angeles in the season finale on October 21st. Colorado sits in 9th place with 32 points but their schedule is not favorable beginning with the game at Chivas USA.
The Columbus Crew are technically still in the playoff race in 10th place but need to win Saturday at New England and next week against D.C. United and get a lot of help. If Chicago wins on Saturday then Columbus would be eliminated.
Los Angeles sits in 11th place but is actually in better shape than Columbus. The Galaxy is six points back of 8th place and has a game in hand on the Fire. The Galaxy will not have injured superstar David Beckham in their game on Saturday but if they can somehow make the playoffs, and it is still possible, then Beckham could be back.
Heading into Saturday’s games the Wizards have two games left and have 37 points. Chicago has two games left and is one point back with 36 points. Sitting out of the playoffs at the moment in 9th place, four points back is Colorado with 32 points and two games left. Columbus has 31 points and has two games left. Los Angeles has 30 points but has three games remaining. Kansas City and Chicago are still in the best positions to make the playoffs but neither has easy games this weekend.
